Instagram Fixes Stories Sound Bug For iOS Users

Instagram Stories automatically played sound. Have you encountered it? Recently, a number of Instagram users took to Twitter to express their displeasure with a particular change. Some users even claimed that Instagram had completely overridden their iPhone’s settings, resulting in a bad experience. Even if their iPhones were in silent mode, Instagram Stories played sound by default. It was actually a’stories sound bug,’ which Insta has now fixed with an update.

Instagram for iOS Reverts Recent Changes By Fixing Stories Sound Bug

According to recent reports, Instagram for iOS made a contentious change to how the sound for Insta Stories was handled. We’re all aware that the app used to honour your iPhone’s silent switch and mute Stories when in silent mode. However, regardless of your iPhone’s settings, it has recently begun playing sound for all Stories. The sound for the stories was turned on by default, regardless of your iPhone’s settings. However, you no longer need to be concerned because the company has released a new update to address this issue. Instagram’s new update, released today, appears to have restored normal behaviour. A Meta representative blamed the problem on an iOS bug and confirmed that the latest Instagram for iOS update will fix it. “This issue has been resolved with the latest version of Instagram for iOS – please update to the latest version of the app available in the App Store,” it said.

So, if you’re having trouble, update Instagram for iOS from the App Store. After that, when you open an Instagram Story while your iPhone is in silent mode, the sound of that Story will be muted. It will no longer play the sound by default. Let us know in the comments if this update resolves the sound issue on Instagram Stories.
